The Greatest Day to Please Lord Vishnu! Be Sure to Give Donations on Nirjala Ekadashi..

In Hinduism, while every Ekadashi holds its own distinct significance, Nirjala Ekadashi is regarded as one of the most arduous and spiritually rewarding fasts. Observed during the *Shukla Paksha* (waxing phase of the moon) of the month of *Jyeshtha*, this fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that observing this fast with complete devotion—abstaining entirely from both food and water—yields the spiritual merit equivalent to observing all the Ekadashi fasts throughout the entire year. For this very reason, it is also referred to as "Bhimseni Ekadashi." According to religious beliefs, observing the Nirjala Ekadashi fast brings happiness, peace, and prosperity into an individual's life.

**The Special Significance of Charity: Yielding Manifold Rewards**

Astrologer Akhilesh Pandey explains that acts of charity performed on this day yield manifold rewards and help alleviate life's difficulties. In particular, the donation of water is considered extremely auspicious on this day. During the summer season, offering cold water to the needy, donating earthen water pots (*matkas*), or setting up public water stalls (*pyaus*) are regarded as highly meritorious acts. According to religious traditions, donating umbrellas, fruits, *sattu* (roasted gram flour), clothing, and food grains on Nirjala Ekadashi is also considered highly auspicious. It is said that for those who sincerely assist the needy, stalled tasks begin to progress, and a positive energy permeates their homes. Many people observe this day by feeding the poor and lighting lamps before Lord Vishnu to pray for the happiness and prosperity of their families.

**Mental Peace Through Worship and Mantra Chanting**
Nirjala Ekadashi is not merely a fast; it is also celebrated as a festival of self-discipline, devotion, and selfless service. On this day, people strive to exercise control over their minds and senses. Meditating on Lord Vishnu, reciting the *Vishnu Sahasranama*, and chanting the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya" are considered particularly meritorious acts. It is believed that engaging in these practices brings mental peace and gradually helps resolve the obstacles present in one's life. Furthermore, it is held that even a small act of charity performed with sincere devotion on this day can please Lord Vishnu.
