Following the leak of the NEET examination paper, questions are being raised nationwide regarding the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the dream of every student to pass the NEET exam and secure admission to a prestigious medical college.

According to reports, Karnataka holds the distinction of having the highest number of MBBS seats across the country. However, when it comes to the sheer number of medical colleges, Uttar Pradesh (UP) takes the first spot. The state of Karnataka is home to 72 medical colleges, with a total seat count of 13,944. In contrast, UP has 13,425 seats distributed across 88 colleges.

Ranking third on the list is Tamil Nadu, with a total of 13,050 MBBS seats spread across 78 colleges. As for Maharashtra, the state houses 85 medical colleges, offering a total of 12,824 seats.

Telangana has 9,040 MBBS seats. Regarding Gujarat, the state has 41 medical colleges, while Rajasthan has 43 colleges.

According to media reports, out of Karnataka's 72 medical colleges, approximately 24 are government-run institutions, while 48 are private medical colleges.

In terms of seat distribution, government medical colleges account for over 4,200 seats, whereas private colleges offer approximately 9,700 MBBS seats.

Given the country's growing population and the ever-increasing demand for doctors, both the Central and State governments are continuously prioritizing the establishment of new medical colleges. Consequently, there has been a rapid surge in the number of MBBS seats available over the past few years.

This expansion is providing students with greater opportunities to pursue medical education. In the near future, it is anticipated that the total number of medical seats in the country will rise even further, thereby enabling a larger number of students to fulfill their dream of becoming doctors.
