Asian Games 2026: India assured of medals in men's badminton and wushu

Nagoya: India won a gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 being held in Japan on Tuesday (September 22). The Indian women's cricket team defeated Sri Lanka in the final to win the gold medal. With this, India's medal tally has risen to seven.

India is now assured of two more medals, with medals confirmed in men's badminton and wushu.

The Indian men's badminton team secured a surprise 3-0 victory over Japan and advanced to the semi-finals.

Lakshya Sen, Satwik/Chirag and Ayush Shetty won the first three matches of the quarter-final, helping India secure a medal. In the semi-final, India will face the winner of the match between South Korea and China.

Roshibina Devi enters the semi-finals:

India is assured of a medal in the wushu competition. Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi has entered the semi-finals. Roshibina defeated Macau China's Chu Man Sin through a Win by Points Difference (WPD) and advanced to the semi-finals of the women's 60kg Sanda category.

She had previously won a silver medal in the same category at the Asian Games and a bronze medal in 2018.

Women's badminton team suffers defeat:

The Indian women's badminton team was eliminated from the Asian Games after losing 1-3 to defending champions Japan.
