Dhruv Jurel's Century Powers India A's Strong Comeback
Dhruv Jurel's majestic ton was the highlight of another rain-troubled day in Lucknow as the inaugural unofficial Test between India A and Australia A is moving towards a draw after the hosts' commendable comeback.
When play eventually began on the third day after a disappointing delay, Sai Sudharsan and N Jagadeesan kept batting in optimistic manner before half-centurion was dismissed by Xavier Bartlett. But the visitors could not actually capitalize on the wicket as Devdutt Padikkal had also joined in to annoy Australia A.
The pair contributed 80 for the third wicket with both the batsmen reaching their respective half-centuries. Australia A then saw a minute opening though when Cooper Connolly was able to trap Sudharsan leg-before-wicket for 73. In fewer than four overs, the visitors struck again and this time it was the big scalp of captain Shreyas Iyer who was the lone batter to get dismissed for a single-digit score in the innings.

Carefully positioned at 222/4, still behind by more than 300 runs, India A picked up their innings with Jurel coming in with Padikkal. While the left-hand batsman was cautious in his intent, Jurel was the one taking the attack as he cleared the ropes four times and crafted a breathtaking century as India crossed 400 minutes before stumps.
With only one day remaining in the match, the prospects of this match finishing with a draw have improved unless Australia A is able to impose a result with a successful morning session given that they still maintain a 129-run lead.
In spite of rain snags and incessant interruptions in play, India A's batsmen demonstrated resilience and courage to mount a strong resistance. Jurel's hundred was the turning point of the day, leaving the match closely poised. With just one day left, a draw appears the most probable result.
