Steve Kerr reflects on Stephen Curry’s injury scare as the team gears up for the season opener against the Los Angeles LakersStephen Curry suffered a moderate right ankle sprain during a team scrimmage but he is expected to play in the Golden State Warriors season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr reflected on his situation as he said,“He’s fine. Yeah, he practiced full today…”

The Golden State Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr added, “I'm always concerned when Steph limps off. But I went down and checked on him, and he told me immediately he was fine.”

While handling the ball near the top of the key during a non contact play at the team’s open practice scrimmage on Sunday, Stephen Curry planted his foot awkwardly to make a move against De'Anthony Melton and tweaked his right ankle.

Out of visible frustration and discomfort, Stephen Curry slammed the basketball onto the floor and then limped off to the locker room. This sparked widespread concern about a major knee injury even though it has been dismissed now.

Stephen Curry has been facing health issues since last seasonThe previous season turned out to be pretty difficult for Stephen Curry as faced a severe bout of "runner's knee" (patellofemoral pain syndrome) and a bone bruise in his right knee.

This injury sidelined him for two full months between February and April 2026 causing him to miss roughly half of the regular season. He also dealt with recurring bilateral knee tendinitis earlier that winter.

Back then, the four time NBA champion had reflected on his injuries as he said, "It's going to be a little longer…Right now, with this one, it's about each day, can you stack good days? I've done that. Hopefully, they can unleash me on the court soon and hopefully, get back sooner than later."

Stephen Curry added, "Trying to stay in shape, strengthen everything else around the body, knowing at this stage, once you get back, it's a full sprint to the playoffs," Curry said. "Once I get back on the court, it's a little bit of a pain tolerance thing. But it's just something you don't want lingering because it can get worse."

Fortunately, Stephen Curry later bounced back on court and remained a reliable player for the Golden State Warriors.
