Isack Hadjar finally cleared to return for Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen at Azerbaijan Grand Prix after missing three races
Isack Hadjar has been cleared to return to Formula 1 action for Red Bull Racing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix . The French driver has successfully recovered from the wrist injury that kept him out of the last three races. He will now be back alongside Max Verstappen at the Baku City Circuit , ending a 58-day wait since his last Grand Prix appearance.
Hadjar last raced at the Hungarian Grand Prix in July before his injury forced him to miss Zandvoort, Monza and the all-new Madring. His return also means Liam Lawson will move back to Racing Bulls after replacing him at Red Bull, while Yuki Tsunoda returns to reserve duties.

“Oracle Red Bull Racing is delighted to welcome Isack back this weekend. Having made a successful recovery from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday. The team would like to sincerely thank Liam for his professionalism, dedication and hard work over the past three races”, read a statement issued by Red Bull on Tuesday.
“Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team. We wish him all the best as he returns to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls”, the statement read.
Hadjar sustained the injury while training during the summer break. He was then forced to sit out three consecutive Grands Prix. He remained involved with the team during his absence but could not compete from inside the car.
The Frenchman admitted that the period away from racing was difficult, “I’m really looking forward to getting back into my car. The last month has been difficult for me. It’s the first time in my life that I haven’t been racing, and it’s a strange feeling that I’ve had to get used to.”
Hadjar also thanked team principal Laurent Mekies and the Red Bull team for giving him enough time to recover properly.
Red Bull had been assessing Hadjar’s fitness on a race-by-race basis. The priority was to ensure that he was fully recovered before allowing him back into the car.
A wrist injury can be particularly difficult for an F1 driver because of the physical demands of steering. Drivers also need to protect their hands and wrists during crashes.
Hadjar’s return will also bring another change to the Red Bull driver line-up. Lawson, who stepped in for the injured driver, will return to Racing Bulls. Tsunoda will once again take up reserve duties.
The Azerbaijan weekend will also follow an unusual schedule. Practice will take place on Thursday, qualifying on Friday and the Grand Prix on Saturday because of Remembrance Day in Azerbaijan on September 27.
Hadjar now faces a demanding comeback, with six races scheduled over the next seven weeks.
