Ishan Kishan Out of Central Contract List? BCCI Official Responds
Despite Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid emphasizing the importance for Ishan Kishan to engage in some form of cricket to stage a national team comeback, Kishan has remained out of the limelight. Notably, he has not participated in the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign, opting instead to train independently.
These developments have sparked discussions about Ishan Kishan's future in Indian cricket.
Responding to queries about Kishan's potential exclusion from BCCI retainership, a senior BCCI official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, informed PTI: "No discussions have taken place as of now regarding central contracts ."
With the ICC T20 World Cup in the Americas scheduled to commence on June 1 and India slated to play their opening match on June 5 in New York, the workload management of India's core group of players during the IPL , tentatively scheduled between March 22 to May 26, assumes paramount importance.
However, it is understood that Indian players will not be given specific instructions regarding workload management during the IPL, as it would not be fair to the franchises investing significantly in star Indian players.
"They are being paid highly and they can't pick and choose games for franchises. But yes, for all those centrally contracted and targeted players (next lot), the franchise's support staff will have to regularly provide fitness updates to the NCA Sports Science head Nitin Patel," an official told PTI.
It is understood that the BCCI may opt to send players whose teams do not qualify for the IPL playoffs to New York earlier, while those involved in the knockout stages will join them after the conclusion of the tournament.
