Knights unite! Watch Shubman Gills shares warmth with KKR legend Sunil Narine at Kolkata

Presently, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill, started his IPL journey with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He has been there for four years, sharing a dressing room with Sunil Narine. And now, in Kolkata, in the match between KKR and GT, Shubman Gill was seen sharing a smile with Narine.

 

While Shubman scored 85 runs, being the highest scorer of GT, Narine became the player of the match, taking two wickets for just 29 runs. Even Shubman was dismissed by Narine, with Anukul Roy taking a stunning catch at the boundary.

 

Notably, Narine completed his historic 200th IPL match, representing KKR. He became the first overseas player to play that number in the league. Apart from Gill, he took the wicket of Nishnat Sindhu.

Day in KKR for Shubman Gill

 

Before becoming the captain of the Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill built the foundation of his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders between 2018 and 2021. Picked for ₹1.8 crore after his stunning U-19 World Cup campaign, Gill arrived as a teenage prodigy and gradually evolved into KKR’s dependable top-order batter.

 

Despite batting in the middle order during his debut season, Gill impressed with a composed fifty against Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens. His breakthrough came in 2019 when KKR promoted him as an opener, a move that earned him the IPL Emerging Player of the Year award.

 

Gill became KKR’s leading run-scorer in both 2020 and 2021, playing a vital role in the franchise’s run to the IPL 2021 final. However, retention constraints before the 2022 mega auction ended his memorable four-year journey in purple and gold.
