Man Utd ace considering January switch after biting back at Ruben Amorim dig

Manchester United youngster Harry Amass is reportedly contemplating spending the second half of the season with Stoke City. The left-back is currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, but could end up trading a relegation battle for a promotion push with the Potters.

Amass, 18, joined United from Watford in 2023 and made his debut under Amorim in March. He made five Premier League appearances last term, also playing twice in the Europa League, but was allowed to move to Hillsborough for a taste of first team football this term.

The young defender hit back at comments from Amorim that he was "struggling", posting a photo of himself with Wednesday's player of the month award. However, he later deleted the comment as it was clarified that the 'struggling' depiction was related to the Owls' lowly league position.

"I think is the feeling of entitlement that we have in our club," Amorim said after Amass and fellow youngster Chido Obi reacted to his comments. "Sometimes strong words is not bad words, sometimes difficult moments is not the bad things for the kids."

He added: "I didn't say anything wrong. I just spoke about how the luck of playing for Manchester United. Sometimes you play for Manchester United and you go see different realities and you understand that football can be so different and that you are really lucky to be in Manchester United."

Wednesday have been hit with two separate points deductions to make relegation to the third tier all but a formality. They still have a negative points tally after seeing 18 points taken off their total after entering administration and then getting a second deduction for breaches under former owner Dejphon Chansiri.

They sit some 32 points from safety ahead of Sunday's trip to QPR, with relegation all but a formality. Amass has impressed in his short time at Hillsborough, though, and has no shortage of suitors.

According to The Sun, Stoke appear to be the most likely winners after a 12-way fight for Amass' signature. They report United won't be recalling the defender, though Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen remains hopeful of keeping him for the second half of the campaign.

"There is a dialogue between the clubs and the agent, so I really hope that we can finalise something soon," Pedersen told reporters. "Of course, we would love to keep him.

"He has done really, really well. He's 18-years-old, played so many games, which level he has played [at]. Of course the young guy has a lot to learn, but how he has played for us, it has been great."

If Amass does choose Stoke, he would be joining a team with a realistic chance of promotion for the first time since dropping out of the Premier League in 2018. Stoke haven't even finished in the top half of the Championship in any of the last seven seasons.

It's their first full campaign with Mark Robins in the dugout and they have the best defensive record in the league with just 23 goals conceded. They sit ninth in the table ahead of Sunday's meeting with Norwich City but are just three points adrift of the play-off places.
