Max Verstappen's Singapore GP win followed by awkward live TV moment as Sky Sports apologises
Sky Sports had to apologise and cut the audio during a live broadcast of the Formula One cooldown room after Max Verstappen and other drivers used bad language following the Singapore Grand Prix. Verstappen won his first Singapore GP after a strong drive at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished second, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli took third place. As part of its coverage, Sky Sports showed the three drivers in the cooldown room after the race. However, the broadcaster quickly faced an awkward moment when the drivers swore during the live broadcast.

Sky Sports cuts audio after drivers swear during Singapore GP finalThe cooldown room gives fans a closer look at how drivers behave and interact after a race. However, it can also lead to unexpected moments when drivers speak freely, forgetting that cameras and microphones are still on.
Sunday's broadcast was one such occasion. Sky Sports commentator David Croft apologised after hearing the language used by Verstappen and Leclerc. The broadcaster then muted the audio before moving away from the cooldown room feed.
"I apologise for Max Verstappen's language there. And Charles Leclerc's. ... (sound gets cut) ... Let's leave it there, shall we?" Croft said.
He later added: "Apologies for some of the colourful language you may have heard from the cooldown room."
Max Verstappen happy with Red Bull's progressThe Singapore victory was Max Verstappen's second in a row after his win at the Bahrain GP in Malaysia last week. The result also helped him close the gap to the drivers ahead of him in the championship standings. He is now eight points behind Lewis Hamilton in third place and 17 points behind George Russell in second.
Speaking after the race, Verstappen said the team's recent performances had been encouraging. “I think the last few races have been really positive for us and it’s just great to see. And we have a lot of motivation in the team to try and deliver even more results," Verstappen told media post-race.
“So yeah, it’s a really good group of people. I really enjoy working with them and hopefully we can have a bit more fun until the end of the year,” he added.
Can Kimi Antonelli win the title in Austin?Kimi Antonelli added 15 points to his championship tally with his third-place finish in Singapore. George Russell, meanwhile, finished ninth after starting from P19 because he used additional power unit components. The result increased Kimi Antonelli's lead over his Mercedes teammate to 102 points.
The Formula One grid will next head to the Circuit of The Americas in Texas for the United States Grand Prix, scheduled from October 22 to 25.
Six drivers remain mathematically in contention for the title, with 150 points still available.
Antonelli must win the race in Austin to have a chance of securing the championship on October 25. However, he will also need Russell to finish 10th or lower. If Russell finishes ninth or higher, the title battle will continue into the next round in Mexico.
