'No issue': Umar Gul clarifies heated on field moment with Shaheen Afridi in Sylhet

Reports of conflict between Pakistan bowling coach Umar Gul and premier paceman Shaheen Afridi have been dismissed after a video emerged on social media sparking an enormous debate during the second Test against Bangladesh.

 

The incident was reported during the ongoing Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium with a widely shared video appearing to show an animated discussion between Gul and Shaheen on the field during Bangladesh's second innings with fans claiming Shaheen had disrespected Pakistan bowling coach.

 

The rumours quickly spread across social media, with numerous suggestions that all was not right within the Pakistan dressing room. However Gul has revealed the event was a misunderstanding.

According to Gul the conversation did not pertain to any disagreement but the coach stated that it concerned an injury to fast bowler Hasan Ali. Hasan had picked up a head injury and was briefly off the field at the time.

 

Umar Gul said : 

 

"There was also a misunderstanding on social media regarding Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali. Hasan Ali had picked up a head injury and was off the field and Shaheen Afridi was simply informed about the situation. There is no issue but it was misinterpreted online."

Bangladesh tighten grip on series

 

Meanwhile Bangladesh continue to have a firm grip on the Test match the hosts scored 278 in their first innings after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

 

Litton Das was the top scorer with 126 from 159 balls and it was an innings where they amassed over three runs a ball. Veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim scored 23.

 

Pakistan struggled in their response and were bowled out for 232, with former captain Babar Azam top scoring with 68 from 84 balls. Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam both took 3 wickets for Bangladesh.

 

The Bangladesh batters then performed even better in their second innings with Mushfiqur Rahim striking a magnificent 137 from 233 balls. Litton Das scored 69 with Mahmudul Hasan Joy adding 52, and Bangladesh declared on 390. They have set Pakistan 437 to win, and with 3 days of the Test having passed have finished on 0 without losing a wicket with opening batsmen Abdullah Fazal

and Azan Awais at the crease.

 

Bangladesh currently lead the two-match series 1-0 and are favorites for another notable Test match triumph over Pakistan.
