In that match, they struggled to chase a target of 248 runs. However, on Saturday, they made a remarkable comeback against the Kiwis under challenging conditions. Tilak scored an unbeaten 51 runs off 26 balls, while Nitish added a quick 26 runs from just 13 balls. Earlier in the innings, Naman Dheer provided hope with a brisk 31 runs from 17 balls. Reflecting on their previous loss, Tilak and Nitish remarked, "God has a perfect time for everything." Their partnership of 69 runs not out was crucial in chasing down the target of 181 runs.
In a video shared by the BCCI, Nitish kicked off the post-match conversation, saying, "Friends, today I have the 'Player of the Match' with me." Tilak quickly chimed in, "And today I have the 'Game Changer of the Match'." They discussed the partnership that proved vital for their success. Nitish asked, "Tilak, how did you feel during our partnership? I thought it was fantastic." Tilak responded, "I felt great too. In Hyderabad, we were thinking that if we both stayed on the field, we could win the match.
But as I always say, God has the right timing for us. We just need to follow our process and work hard. The right things will happen at the right time." The second T20 match was played on the same pitch as the first, which showed significant wear and tear. This made it difficult for batsmen to play their shots, compounded by the large boundaries that hindered six-hitting. Tilak noted, "The challenging conditions and the large ground made the wicket tough to bat on. The pitch was a bit slow, and when they bowled bouncers, the ball came in fast.
So, hitting sixes was not easy. Honestly, hitting sixes was easier in the first match. However, as everyone knows, this match was quite challenging. When faced with a challenge, we knew how to play smartly. We wanted to show our fitness and hard work by taking quick singles and twos, while also hitting boundaries whenever possible." Both players accelerated the scoring and hit crucial boundaries at key moments. Ultimately, they guided India to victory in just 19.5 overs.
While Tilak and Nitish played pivotal roles, Naman's innings of 31 runs was also crucial, providing the necessary momentum after India was struggling at 70 for 5 after 10.5 overs. Nitish expressed his enjoyment playing alongside Tilak, stating, "I had a lot of fun playing with him. He runs fast, and I do too. One thing I particularly want to mention about Tilak is that when Naman was batting well and hitting great shots, Tilak came to the crease and played risk-free, giving Naman singles while he did his job." Tilak added, "One more thing, when Naman was batting, I also wanted to hit big shots, but I promised Gautam (Gambhir) and Sitanshu Kotak that next time I will take the game deeper.
In the last match, my mindset was a bit defensive; I wanted to take singles early on and carry the game forward. However, in this match, when I was at the crease, I aimed to hit boundaries against spinners. When Naman was hitting big shots, I played wisely, keeping calm and taking the game deeper. What happened afterward was God's plan."
