Virat Kohli Omitted, Shreyas Iyer Dropped; KL Rahul And Ravindra Jadeja Return For Remaining England Test Series
Virat Kohli will continue to be absent for the remaining three Tests of the ongoing India vs England series, as anticipated. The BCCI officially confirmed on Saturday that Kohli 's absence is due to personal reasons and expressed full support for his decision.
“Virat Kohli will remain unavailable for selection for the remainder of the series due to personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Mr. Kohli’s decision,” stated the BCCI in an official release on Saturday morning.
In a significant development, the injured duo of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are set to return, pending fitness clearance.
“The participation of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team,” the statement noted.
Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer , after a series of low scores, has been dropped from the squad.
Moreover, India has handed a maiden call-up to Akash Deep, who replaces uncapped all-rounder Saurabh Kumar , who was added to the squad for the 2nd Test in Vizag.
Sarafaraz Khan, along with Saurabh , earned his maiden India call-up, and although he did not feature in the playing XI for the 2nd Test, he retains his place in the squad.

The touring England team has returned to their pre-series base in Abu Dhabi for a much-needed break. Ben Stokes and Co. are also set to indulge in some golf before returning to India in time for the third Test in Rajkot, with their return scheduled for February 10.
The fourth Test is set to commence from February 23 in Ranchi, followed by the fifth and final match starting on March 7 in Dharamsala.
