Virender Sehwag Discusses Team Indias Mindset Under Sourav Gangulys Captaincy
Mumbai, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Virender Sehwag, host of the streaming reality show "Rise and Fall," recently shared insights about Team India's mentality during the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, one of the nation's most celebrated leaders. Sehwag emphasized that under Ganguly's guidance, the team adopted a fearless and aggressive style of play, which significantly reshaped Indian cricket's identity.
During a promotional event for the show, Sehwag noted that the focus during Ganguly's era was on winning as many matches as possible abroad. He reflected, "Every team has its own philosophy. I was part of Ganguly's team, so I can speak to that mindset. I'm not part of the current Indian team, so I can't comment on their approach. Our goal was to play as many matches as possible and to win overseas. We worked hard at it, and under Ganguly, we achieved that." Sehwag also mentioned that he did not always play aggressively.He adapted his style based on the game's requirements, stating, "It's not that I always played aggressively. I could also play defensively when needed. I've faced tough situations too." In his playing days, Sehwag formed a formidable opening partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, contributing significantly to numerous victories for Team India. Currently, Sehwag has taken over the hosting duties for the second season of "Rise and Fall," replacing Ashneer Grover.This reality series features 15 contestants competing for 42 days in a game focused on power, strategy, alliances, and changing circumstances. Contestants are divided into two groups: the "Rulers," who control the game from a tower, and the "Workers," who reside in the basement and strive for opportunities to ascend. The second season introduces a new element of audience participation, allowing viewers to influence who becomes a "Ruler" or a "Worker."
