Demographic Structure

Nearly 2 lakh people registered as voters this year. The number of male and female voters is almost the same, showcasing a well balanced voter base. The third-gender count stands at 37. The phase one of elections was held on April 23, Thursday and the result will be declared on May 4th. The voter turnout was 61.04%.


Past Election Results and Trends

MK Stalin has been ruling this seat for decades. It is known to be the strong seat of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He has won this seat in the last three elections - 2011, 2016 and 2021. In 2021, he defeated Aadirajaram by a margin of 70, 384 votes. In 2016, he defeated Prabhakar J.C.D of AIADMK by a margin of 37,730 votes.

Kolathur is reserved as a general seat in the Tamil Nadu elections. It is often considered one of the most important constituencies in the state, as the current Chief Minister M.K Stalin represents this seat.
