Jaylalitha was one of the most prominent faces of Tamil Nadu politics.Before her demise in 2016 Radhakrishnan nagar was her constituency. This was the time when this constituency drew attention and started playing a major role in Tamil Nadu Political landscape. It is among one of 234 constituencies and is an urban electoral seat.
The geographic area consists of coastal roads, narrow streets, over crowded residential clusters and port adjacent industrial zones.
Its population mostly consists of the working class which includes vendors, fishers, logistic laborers and dock workers etc.

This year, the total number of registered voters was 1,95,856. Among them 93,976 were male while 1,02,201 were female voters. The number of female voters is a bit higher than the male electors. And 79 were third gender voters. If we talk about the previous years then there were 262980 voters and in 2016 there were 2,54,558 registered voters. If we look at the previous election data it reflects that the number of registered voters is less in this election.

The constituency voted on April 23 during the first phase of elections. Exit polls and results would be out after the second phase is done. The results will be declared on 4 May.

The voter turnout of this year is yet not revealed. The previous election, which was in 2021, voter turnout was 70.98%, in 2016 it was 68.38% and it was 72.71% in 2011. The voter turnout would be a thing to look at as the percentage has been a bit up and down in the previous years.
