Brand new Witcher game gets surprise announcement, but it's not what you think
A brand new Witcher game has just been announced for release at the end of February 2026, but before you get your hopes up, it’s probably not the one you were hoping for.
While we know that The Witcher 4 is currently deep into development, a remake of the first Witcher is also on the way, and a rumoured secret DLC for Witcher 3 might exist, CD Projekt Red also had a fourth Witcher-related project in the works.
Published by Devolver Digital and built by Nerial in partnership with CDPR, Reigns: The Witcher is a brand new card-based crossover title between the popular mobile game and everyone’s favourite monster slayer.

Reigns is an RPG card game that uses swiping controls similar to dating apps like Tinder to control the narrative. In the original game from 2016, you played as the king of a realm with the objective to stay in rule for as long as possible.
This Witcher variant of Reigns shakes things up slightly with the story told from the perspective of Dandelion, the bard responsible for broadcasting Geralt’s tales across the land. Fan favourite characters like Yennefer, Triss, Vesemir and even Roach will all appear on screen as you decide which action they take with either a left or right swipe.
A description of the game on Steam reads: “As Geralt of Rivia, legendary monster slayer, you will navigate the moral maze and fight for survival through the drunken ballads of the bard.
“Will you hunt monsters, upset the locals, or run a hot bath? Compose an inspiring epic to perhaps, one day, claim immortality.”
The more you play, the more you’ll level up Dandelion’s storytelling abilities with new storylines to delve down. Each tale is filled with puzzles to complete as well as new deeds and characters to unlock.
Geralt’s latest adventure might not be the blockbuster RPG adventure we’re looking forward to, but it’ll no doubt be an interesting time-sink for those looking to tide themselves over until we head more about The Witcher 4.
Best of all, this game can be taken on the go with you as it’s launching on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store on February 25, 2026. It will also see a release on PC via Steam on the same date.
