DLI 2.0 is targeting six key chip types, 80% local build: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Newspoint
The government is finalising details of the second phase of the design-linked incentive (DLI) scheme, electronics and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.

The scheme will focus on six key categories of semiconductor devices, allowing India to indigenously develop and manufacture up to 80% of electronic systems in diverse sectors, the minister said. It will also enable the setting up of 50 fabless semiconductor companies in India, over this next phase. This will ensure that half of all semiconductor design work done globally takes place in India in the coming years, he said.
