Google Introduces Companion Mode to Meet App on Android and iOS
Google has introduced its second screen " companion mode " to the Meet app on Android and iOS devices, following its initial rollout for the web. In a recent blog post, Google stated, "Beginning today, you'll be able to use companion mode with your Android and iOS devices."
T Google highlighted its versatility in meeting spaces where laptop usage might be constrained. "Using Companion mode from your mobile device is a quick, light-weight way to participate in meetings without opening a laptop. This can be particularly useful in meeting spaces where room for a laptop is limited," the blog post explained.
Moreover, companion mode provides access to interactive features and controls while in a conference room or large meeting space. Users can perform various actions such as checking in to the room for identification, sharing emoji reactions, raising their hand to indicate a desire to speak, enabling captions for subtitles, and more.
In a separate announcement, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai disclosed that Google One, a service offering additional storage for free services like Gmail, Drive, and Photos, has reached 100 million subscriptions. This milestone grants users access to a wider array of features along with expanded storage capabilities.
