Google Maps is currently trialing an innovative feature aimed at further enhancing navigation accuracy by displaying building entrances . This latest functionality, spotted by Android Police within Google Maps version 11.17.0101 on a Pixel 7a device, showcases entry points to various buildings, though its availability appears limited to specific locations at present.
When a building is selected and the map is sufficiently zoomed in, entrances are indicated by icons, rendering selected businesses or buildings in red for easier identification amid surrounding structures. The entrance icons themselves typically manifest as circular symbols containing either an arrow or a white circle adorned with an entry symbol. However, some inaccuracies have been noted, particularly concerning smaller buildings where entrances may be misaligned.
During testing, Android Police experimented with diverse locations such as cafes, offices, supermarkets, hardware stores, and restaurants across cities like Las Vegas, San Francisco, Berlin, and New York City. Results varied, with entrances visible for select locations.
