GTA 6 fans resort to extreme measures to discover Trailer 3 release date
As the GTA 6 release date draws closer, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of a brand new trailer, a pre-order announcement, or literally any news to do with the game whatsoever.
While Rockstar remains quiet for now, fans of the game are resorting to more and more desperate measures to predict when we might see mysterious Trailer 3. While some are analysing the alignment of the stars - I wish I was joking - others have taken to monitoring the footfall of cafes nearby to Rockstar's Edinburgh offices.
One user posted their 'research' over on Reddit, saying: "A tea place near the Rockstar North office is reporting above average traffic." They attached a screenshot of the Google Maps listing showing 'busier than usual' around the 2pm mark.
It's unclear whether the post is in jest, but the user's research is clearly inspired by the Pentagon Pizza theory. This is a theory that fast food places nearby to US Government offices see increased activity during times when employees are dealing with heightened international crises.
Applying the same theory to GTA 6, the user clearly thinks that the team would be out to celebrate reaching a particular milestone with the game, and that given the offices are based in the UK, Rockstar employees are more likely to frequent a tea place rather than a pizza joint.
"At first I thought that I should look for pizza places nearby but then i realized that Rockstar North is in Scotland (close enough to England) which means they prefer their tea more than they prefer their pizza," the original poster theorises. "So surely they would have a much busier traffic around tea places and sure enough, I am right."
Sweeping generalisations that I'm sure many Scots would find offensive aside, the rest of the Reddit comments are quick to denounce this methodology in any sense.
"We have reached the state of not only stalking everything Rockstar ever made but also stalking local restaurants and establishments... Yep, this community has lost it," reads one comment.
Another adds: "Hahha this is the sort of unhinged p*ss taking I love on here."
Meanwhile, another writes: "This is pretty doubtful when I'm almost certain Rockstar North would have a kettle in the damn office for tea lmao. Nobody is ordering tea from a tea place to be delivered. Unless Rockstar is just that weirdly evil to deny the employees a kettle."
The most concrete evidence we have that a new GTA 6 trailer is on the way soon is that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told fans the marketing will start to spin up this summer. Summer officially starts on June 21, although the publisher may not adhere to strict dates.
By comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 had its third trailer release at the start of May with an October 2018 release date. With GTA 6 scheduled for November 19, 2026, we're most certainly due a trailer soon - but it's unlikely that footfall in the teashops of Edinburgh will tell us anything.
