How To Delete WhatsApp Media Files Without Leaving Chat

WhatsApp has introduced a new update for iOS beta users, version 25.31.10.70, through the TestFlight programme. The latest feature allows users to delete and manage media files directly from the chat info screen, without leaving the conversation.

Easier Storage Management

This new option works much like the existing “Manage Storage” tool in the app’s settings. However, it offers a more convenient and direct way to control storage within specific chats. Users can now review, sort, and delete large media files such as videos, photos, and documents shared in a particular conversation.

The update is currently available to select beta testers and will be released to more users over the next few weeks. This move reflects WhatsApp’s continuous effort to help users free up storage space more efficiently.

View and Sort Shared Media

From the chat info screen, users can view a complete grid of all media exchanged within the chat. These files are automatically sorted by size, making it easy to identify space-consuming items. Users can also sort media using different filters such as “Newest,” “Oldest,” or “Largest”, depending on what they want to delete or keep.

Bulk Delete and Star Media

The update adds new bulk action capabilities. Users can select multiple photos or videos at once for quick deletion, significantly speeding up the cleanup process. They can also star important photos and videos for easier access later.

By integrating this feature within the chat itself, WhatsApp aims to make storage management a regular, effortless habit instead of a periodic task. It’s a small but practical improvement that gives users more control over their phone’s memory usage while keeping their chats organised.

As WhatsApp continues refining its tools, such updates make it easier for users to manage digital clutter and enjoy a smoother app experience.
