Is 5G Safe? New Study Shows No Harm to Human Cells

Newspoint
In a major advancement for public health and technology discussions, a recent study from Germany’s Constructor University found no harmful impact of 5G signals on human cells, even under intense exposure. Researchers exposed human skin cells to high levels of 5G electromagnetic waves and observed no changes in gene expression or DNA methylation—key markers of cellular health. This provides the most compelling evidence to date that 5G technology, despite persistent conspiracy claims, poses no biological risk to humans when operated within established safety standards.

Researchers test 5G at maximum power

To rigorously evaluate 5G safety, scientists exposed two types of human skin cells—fibroblasts and keratinocytes—to 27 GHz and 40.5 GHz frequencies within the high-frequency millimeter-wave range of 5G. These exposure levels far exceeded typical real-world conditions, simulating the most extreme scenarios.

Impact of 5G on DNA and Gene Activity

Researchers exposed cells to 5G radiation for periods ranging from 2 to 48 hours and observed no significant changes in gene expression or DNA methylation—both key indicators of cellular response to environmental stress. This lack of alteration suggests that 5G exposure, even beyond typical safety limits, does not cause harmful effects at the cellular level.

Limited Penetration Depth: A Natural Protective Barrier

The study highlights that the high-frequency waves used in 5G, particularly those above 10 GHz, penetrate the skin only about 1 millimeter deep. Because these waves don’t reach deeper tissues or organs, the risk of systemic biological effects is greatly minimized, reinforcing 5G’s safety from a biological perspective.

No Heating Effects Detected

Previous studies suggested that radio frequencies might cause tissue heating, but this research meticulously controlled temperature to isolate non-thermal effects. Despite these precautions, no harmful impacts were found, effectively addressing fears that 5G could disrupt biological functions without raising tissue temperature.

Settling the 5G Health Risk Debate

By testing even the most extreme exposure scenarios without observing negative outcomes, this study provides a clear resolution to ongoing concerns. The researchers aim to alleviate fears and correct misinformation about 5G’s “invisible dangers.” While caution around screen time and device use is reasonable, the radiation emitted by 5G technology itself appears safe.
