Realme 16 Pro Harry Potter edition first impressions
Realme recently unveiled the Harry Edition of Realme 16 Pro in India. The smartphone carries several design details inspired by the Wizarding World, from the brown finish and leather-like texture to the Hogwarts house crests and Hedwig-inspired camera module. Realme is also adding a few touches that go beyond the phone's exterior, including a colour-changing effect that brings the Hogwarts crests to life under sunlight. Priced at Rs 56,699, this is a limited-edition phone, with only 5,000 units being made globally. So, the bigger question is whether the Harry Potter treatment makes the Realme 16 Pro feel special enough.
A phone made for Hogwarts fansWe get a brown finish with an Argyle leather texture on the rear panel, inspired by the Wizard's Chess scene from the Harry Potter films. The texture gives the phone a different look from the usual glass or plain-coloured smartphones we see in this price range. The most noticeable detail is the Hogwarts Four House Crests placed on the rear panel. These represent Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, making the Harry Potter connection obvious without making the entire design look overly busy.
We also get a Hedwig-inspired camera deco, which adds another Harry Potter reference to the rear design.
Realme has gone a step further with the metallic mid-frame. It carries the “Welcome to Hogwarts” slogan through laser engraving. This is a small detail, but it adds to the feeling that we are using a special-edition device rather than a standard phone with themed software.
One of the most interesting design features is Realme's Quadra Light-Sensing Color-changing Technology. Under sunlight, the four Hogwarts house crests reveal their respective house colours. Realme calls this the Hogwarts Crest Glow Wonder, and the effect is designed to recreate the feel of the Sorting Moment from the Harry Potter universe.
We also get a Hogwarts-inspired custom UI, with themed wallpapers, app icons, animations and a customised GT mode.
