Vodafone Idea launches prepaid family plan with nationwide data-sharing feature: Here's how to avail the benefit
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched what it calls India’s first prepaid family plan, allowing prepaid subscribers to create family groups and share mobile data with members located anywhere in the country. The new offering enables active Vi prepaid users to form a family group through the Vi app with up to four members, including one primary member and up to three secondary members. While each member continues to maintain an individual prepaid connection and validity, they gain the ability to share data among family members when needed.

Under the plan, family members can transfer 500MB of data at a time to another member who is running low on data. Vi said the feature is designed to help users remain connected for activities such as video calls, online classes, navigation and access to essential digital services.
The telecom operator said all members enrolled in a prepaid family group will also receive discounts of up to 10% on every recharge made via the Vi app. According to Vi, the plan allows users to create family groups across telecom circles, enabling members living in different cities and regions to share connectivity benefits and manage their family accounts through a single platform.
Commenting on the launch, Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer at Vi, said the company believes the future of prepaid services lies in providing greater flexibility rather than simply offering more data. He added that the prepaid family proposition is aimed at making prepaid plans more relevant to how families live, work and stay connected.
The launch is part of Vi’s broader “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP” positioning, which focuses on extending premium benefits to prepaid subscribers. The company said the prepaid family plan seeks to bring a family-oriented experience, traditionally associated with postpaid services, to the prepaid segment.
