‘A Terrorist Country Asking Me That Question’: Jaishankar’s Sharp Reply To Pak Journalist At UN

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar responded sharply to a Pakistani journalist’s question on terrorism during a press interaction at the UN headquarters in New York. Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti were addressing the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers when the journalist asked when India would stop allegedly sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. Jaishankar replied, “A terrorist country is asking me that question. Come on.” India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, then intervened, saying the journalist had heard Jaishankar’s response “loud and clear.” The exchange came a day after a journalist questioned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over harbouring terrorists.
