‘ASHAMED’: Nitin Gadkari Says He Won’t Attend Mumbai-Goa Highway Inauguration, Slams Project Delays

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has expressed strong displeasure over the prolonged delay in the Mumbai-Goa Highway expansion, saying he is “ashamed” of the project’s slow progress. Gadkari said he will not attend the highway’s inauguration when the project is eventually completed. Speaking in Goa, he said the highway is currently around 93-94% complete and that he plans to travel by car from Mumbai to Goa in October to assess its status. The four-laning project, launched in 2011, aims to reduce travel time from nearly 12 hours to six hours. Several stretches have faced prolonged delays and construction quality concerns.
