India has rejected Elon Musk’s allegation that Starlink is being blocked by oligarchs seeking to protect a monopolistic hold over the Indian market. The government said India’s regulatory framework for satellite communication services is fair and non-discriminatory, calling the allegation baseless and misconceived. Starlink, Reliance Jio and Eutelsat OneWeb are currently undergoing security assessments, with all three at broadly the same regulatory stage. Starlink Business Operations VP Lauren Dreyer said the company is ready to serve India once approvals are completed. The development comes amid wider India-US tensions and continuing concerns over security, data localisation and spectrum allocation for satellite communication services.
