'Bhojshala Complex Is A Temple, Hindus Have Right To Worship': MP High Court

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has recognised the disputed Bhojshala complex in Dhar as a temple dedicated to Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), citing historical records, architectural references, and the continued practice of Hindu worship at the site. The court observed that Bhojshala was historically a centre of Sanskrit learning associated with Raja Bhoj of the Parmar dynasty and confirmed that Hindu worship had never ceased there. It also suggested that the Government of India consider bringing back the idol of Goddess Vagdevi from the British Museum in London. Additionally, the court stated that the Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society or any new Waqf body may seek alternate land for a mosque in Dhar. The Archaeological Survey of India will continue administering and maintaining the monument, while police security has been increased in the district.
