Cong Under Fire Over ‘Fake AI Video’ as Army Debunks Chinese Intrusion Claims; Rijiju Hits Out

The BJP has accused the Congress of circulating an AI-generated video falsely attributing remarks about Chinese control of parts of Arunachal Pradesh to Indian Army officer Girish Kalia. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded an apology from the Congress, accusing the party of tarnishing the Army’s image.The Indian Army’s fact-check unit clarified that the viral video was digitally altered and contained fabricated remarks. The original footage was from a 2023 press briefing in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, where the officer spoke about infiltration attempts along the Line of Control.The controversy comes amid earlier concerns raised by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Bosiram Siram, who alleged that Chinese PLA forces had advanced 40–50 kilometres into Indian territory in certain areas and raised questions about border patrolling and infrastructure.
