Delhi Building Collapse: PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi React; CM Rekha Oversees Rescue, Assures Action

A five-storey PG building collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan, triggering a major search and rescue operation by the NDRF, Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police and other agencies. Delhi Police said three people have died, while several others have been rescued and shifted to hospitals. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said 11 people had been rescued and that basement excavation during renovation may have caused a pillar to shift, leading to the collapse. She assured that those responsible, including the owner or any official, would not be spared. Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his Goa event and spoke to senior officials about the rescue effort. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and prayed for the injured. Rahul Gandhi urged rescue teams to reach trapped students, while AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj raised allegations of illegal construction and corruption.
