High Court Quashes NSA Detention Of DU Law Student Over Noida Protest, Officials To Pay ₹5 Lakh

Allahabad High Court has quashed the NSA detention of DU law student and labour activist Aakriti Chaudhary, calling the state’s case a “concocted story” and ordering ₹5 lakh compensation, to be recovered from officials’ salaries from the SHO to the District Magistrate. Aakriti was arrested on April 12, a day before Noida’s workers’ protest turned violent. Police accused her of instigating arson and stone-pelting, but failed to produce the alleged video evidence before court. The bench also flagged serious procedural lapses in her arrest and preventive-detention notices. Aakriti remains in jail because she faces 11 FIRs across five Noida police stations and has secured bail in only five.
