'Historic Win': CJP Hails Supreme Court Verdict As Apex Court Quashes FIRs, Sept 5 Cancelled
The Supreme Court has ordered that FIRs related to the NEET 2026 protest incidents should not be pursued or investigated and will be treated as closed. No fresh FIRs can be registered for incidents between July 20 and 26, with an exception allowing the Centre and Delhi Police to proceed against 2,873 identified persons in cases involving established bodily harm or property destruction. The court also ordered a pan-India compensation mechanism and directed compensation within three months for NEET 2026 suicide cases. Following the order and government assurances, CJP withdrew its September 5 Delhi protest march.
