In a dramatic political twist in Maharashtra, former Congress MLA Rahul Bondre has decided to stay with the Congress after a late-night phone call from Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi. Bondre had announced plans to join the BJP, with a welcome reportedly planned in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal connected the call, and a video of Gandhi urging Bondre not to buckle under pressure has gone viral. Bondre won Chikhli in 2009 and 2014, but lost to BJP’s Shweta Mahale in 2019 and 2024.
