Maharashtra’s Power Shift: Fadnavis Can Now Reverse Ministerial Decisions In Public Interest
Maharashtra has notified its new Government Rules of Business, 2026, giving Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis explicit authority to modify or reverse decisions taken by cabinet ministers in the larger public interest. The CM must record reasons in writing, while ministers and secretaries must provide documents or files requested by him without delay. The rules also redefine administrative roles across the government.
