Massive Protest Erupts At Delhi’s Jantar Mantar Against Gyanesh Kumar Over EC-SIR Row

Several activists and protesters were detained by Delhi Police during a citizen’s march near Jantar Mantar against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest began at Jantar Mantar, where AISA president Neha Bora and associates raised slogans demanding the scrapping of SIR and removal of all Election Commissioners. Activists including Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan, Dipankar Bhattacharya and Nandita Narain also addressed the media. Police stopped the march near the Patel Chowk Metro station car park. TMC MP Mahua Moitra joined the demonstration, while the Indian Youth Congress marched from Raisina Road to Jantar Mantar. PTI, quoting organisers, reported the detention of several protesters, while Bora also claimed her detention.
