‘NEET, Delimitation, Cauvery, Drugs’: Vijay’s Key Requests Before Amit Shah At Tamil Nadu Meeting
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay raised four key issues at the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Vijay sought a firm assurance that southern states would not lose their share of parliamentary representation under the proposed Delimitation Bill, 2026. He also reiterated Tamil Nadu’s opposition to NEET and urged the Centre to allow state-quota medical admissions based on Class 12 marks. On the drug menace, Vijay called for tighter regulation of online prescription drug sales and stronger interstate action against narcotics. He also highlighted interstate river disputes, particularly the Cauvery issue, stressing compliance with Supreme Court orders and the Cauvery Water Management Authority’s directions on water release to Tamil Nadu.
