'No Full Press Conference': US Envoy Gor On India’s ‘No Questions’ Request Before Modi-Trump Meet

US Ambassador Sergio Gor has claimed that India’s Ministry of External Affairs had made a request ahead of a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump that the interaction should not include questions from the media. Speaking at the Economic Times World Leaders Forum, Gor said Trump had asked what India planned to raise during the meeting and whether there were any requests. Gor claimed the MEA preferred media access without a full press conference and told Trump that India preferred no questions. However, after Modi and Trump made brief opening remarks, Gor said Trump looked towards the cameras and asked, “any questions?” According to Gor, this led to a 45-minute press conference where several issues were discussed. The Indian government and MEA have not officially responded to the claim.
