'No Problem When Boys Do It': Rahul Gandhi's Attack At PM Modi Over Jantar Mantar Abuse

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the government of a patriarchal mindset while addressing thousands of women and girl students at AISSMS College in Pune. Speaking during the Congress’ ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign, Gandhi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “culturally shocked” after girls at a Jantar Mantar protest used cuss words, while he had no objection to boys using similar language. Gandhi said the fight was against a system that gives men greater freedom while restricting women. He also referred to the Manusmriti while speaking about women’s independence, saying women should not be defined by their relationship with men.
