'Not An Iota Of Truth': PM Modi Rubbishes Report Of Restriction On Foreign Travel
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly denied reports claiming that the Centre was considering imposing a cess, tax or surcharge on foreign travel to manage the fiscal impact of ongoing conflict-linked economic pressures. Responding on X, PM Modi said there was “not an iota of truth” in the claims and clarified that the government had no plans to restrict foreign travel. He also stressed that the Centre remained committed to improving ease of doing business and ease of living for citizens. The clarification came after a media report claimed that discussions were taking place at the “highest levels” regarding a temporary levy on foreign travel due to rising crude oil prices and import costs amid the ongoing war situation. The report was later withdrawn by the media outlet, which issued an apology on X and admitted that the story was inaccurate.
