‘Proportionate Response’: MEA Explains Bulldozer Action Outside Pakistan High Commission In Delhi

The Ministry of External Affairs has described the removal of unauthorised temporary structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi as a “proportionate action” in response to similar action by Pakistan. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said structures outside the Indian High Commission in Pakistan were removed to facilitate parking despite India’s request not to proceed. In response, Indian authorities removed temporary structures in the lane outside the Pakistan High Commission. Traffic bollards and barricades around the diplomatic compound were also removed. Visuals showed rubble, broken railings, metal frames, roofing sheets, bricks and concrete scattered outside the mission. Sections of the outer structures, including corrugated roofing and fencing, were demolished, while the visa section remained visible amid the debris.
