Skardu Base Was India’s Target During Operation Sindoor, Ex-CDS Reveals Why Strike Was Aborted
Pakistan’s strategically important Skardu military base is back in focus after former CDS General Anil Chauhan revealed that India had planned to strike it during Operation Sindoor. Located around 170 kilometres from Kargil, Skardu has long been significant to Pakistan’s military strategy and was used to support troops during the Kargil War. Chauhan said the strike was aborted at the last moment due to bad weather. The base also provides security cover to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Meanwhile, India struck several Pakistani bases, including Bholari, Sargodha and Nur Khan, using BrahMos, SCALP and Rampage missiles.
