Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Hands Over Son To Police In POCSO Case, Says ‘All Are Equal Before Law’

Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar said he had handed over his son, Bandi Bhageerath, to the police for investigation in connection with a POCSO case, asserting that everyone is equal before the law. He stated that his son has denied any wrongdoing and that the surrender was delayed as legal teams were examining evidence and seeking bail. The development came after the Telangana High Court declined interim protection from arrest to Bhageerath. The case was registered on May 8 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act based on a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who accused Bhageerath of sexual harassment. Bhageerath later filed a counter-complaint alleging extortion, pressure to marry, and threats from the girl’s family.
