UPI Fee: Govt, Payment Gateways Discuss Ways To Shield Consumers From MDR Burden

The government is in talks with payment aggregators and platforms to ensure merchants do not pass the new Merchant Discount Rate, or MDR, on certain UPI transactions to consumers. The Centre has introduced a 0.4% MDR on certain UPI transactions above Rs 2,000 and plans to monitor its implementation from October 15.
