Vijay Names New Tamil Nadu Alliance As Congress-TVK Rift Grows Over Rahul Gandhi’s Leadership

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C Joseph Vijay has named his alliance with Congress, VCK, MDMK and IUML the “Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance.” The alliance partners met in Chennai, while CPM and CPI skipped formal talks for the second time since July 1, saying their outside support will remain issue-based. Meanwhile, tensions between TVK and Congress are rising over national leadership, with TVK leaders projecting Vijay for 2029 and Congress minister S Rajesh Kumar backing Rahul Gandhi as the opposition bloc’s leader.
