‘We Rushed...’: Eyewitnesses, Locals Recall Aftermath Of Satya Niketan Building Collapse

After a five-storey building housing a boys’ PG collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan on September 6, killing seven people, we visited the site to speak to those who witnessed the collapse or reached the spot during the rescue operation. Local vendors and residents recalled the sudden crash, the dust and panic that followed, and efforts to help rescue teams clear the site. One eyewitness described locals helping move victims and make space for ambulances, while another resident recalled having lived in the building and said he had shifted earlier. Through their accounts, they describe what they saw that day, the rescue response, and their concerns about the condition and safety of PG buildings in the area.
