After the CJP’s top leadership was detained before reaching Jantar Mantar, the organisation’s new protest leader Ajinkya Shinde appealed to supporters to remain peaceful but continue marching. His phrase was simple: wherever police stop them, that place becomes Jantar Mantar. The message came as Delhi faced extensive restrictions. Reports said more than 1,500 people were detained across the capital. Metro access was curtailed, mobile internet was suspended near the protest zone and buses were used to move detainees. The CJP wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign. It also seeks a freeze on the 2025 voter lists and criminal proceedings linked to its allegations. Authorities deny the charges and cite public safety, traffic and law-and-order concerns for the restrictions in Delhi today.
