Amit Shah has sounded the election bugle in Uttar Pradesh with a promise to implement the Uniform Civil Code if the BJP returns to power in 2027. The pledge puts ideology and identity at the centre of the state’s next political battle. Shah also praised the Yogi Adityanath government and projected the BJP as an unshakeable force. Akhilesh Yadav was quick to respond. Mocking Shah’s timing, he said, “Badi der kardi meherbaan aate aate.” The SP chief is also pointing to the Legislative Council results, where the party won five of eleven seats.
