A Dalit family returning from a temple in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, was attacked by members of a specific community.

Upon receiving information, the police registered a case and launched a search for the accused. According to reports, the Dalit family was returning from the temple in an auto-rickshaw when members of a specific community were grazing goats on the road. An argument broke out between the two sides over clearing the road.

 

The situation escalated quickly, turning into a physical altercation. Members of a particular community launched a deadly attack on a Dalit family.

Several members of the Dalit family were reportedly injured in the attack. Upon learning of the incident, the victim's family filed a complaint at the police station, prompting police action. Higher authorities were informed of the incident, and the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, where some were discharged after first aid.

 

Additional Superintendent of Police Shyamakant stated that he immediately took cognizance of the incident, dispatching a police team to the scene and ordering the registration of a case against the accused and their immediate arrest.

Police stated that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances. Currently, the police are deploying additional forces to maintain peace in the village. Tension has prevailed in the area since the incident, but the administration claims that the situation is under control.

Police officials say that villagers are being counseled to prevent further incidents in the village. The accused will be arrested soon. A team has been formed for this purpose, and their location is being tracked.

They added that both parties are being questioned. Is the dispute a result of an old rivalry? Whoever is found guilty in the investigation will be prosecuted. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of old enmity.
