Afghanistan Wins Toss, Elects to Bowl First Against India in Third T20
New Delhi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : The third T20 International between India and Afghanistan is underway at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi. Afghanistan's captain, Ibrahim Zadran, won the toss and opted to bowl first. After winning the toss, Zadran expressed, "We will bowl first. We lost the toss in the last two matches. Our bowlers will get some assistance early on.
We have already lost the series, but we have reflected on where we fell short. India is one of the best teams, and we want to keep things simple. There are two changes in our lineup; Gulbadin Naib and Noor Ahmad are not playing." In response, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer noted, "We would have batted first. It would have presented an interesting challenge. It's crucial for us to focus on the present and not complicate things. We made one change; Yash Thakur comes in for Arshdeep Singh." India has already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.In batting, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson showcased impressive form in the second T20, with Abhishek scoring a total of 121 runs across both matches. Samson played a blistering innings, while Ishan Kishan has effectively filled the number three spot. The bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh performed admirably with the new ball, and spinners Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi excelled in the previous match. On the other hand, Afghanistan has struggled in both T20 matches so far.The team's batsmen have faced challenges against Indian bowlers, with Zadran managing to score only 37 runs in the second T20 while the rest of the batting lineup faltered. In bowling, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi were costly, although Rashid Khan stood out by taking three wickets.
